News story of the week

In Chile, October 29th, a congressman, Leonardo Soto, asked that the train station of Rancagua Express, -especifically the one that will be in Lo Espejo-  should have the name of  Victor Jara. He was a chilean artist that was murdered in dictatorship. The project Rancagua Express will be open the next year. But the congressman isn´t the only one who want this, as some social organizations too. The Request was made this week in a meeting with the Empresa de Ferrocarriles del Estado authorities.

In my opinion its a good way of maintaining the memory of our culture. Victor Jara is an icon of the resistance of a period that we dont want again. In the other side, is an artist that represent the popular music and sing(ing), being recognized in all Latinoamerica and the world. These are more than good reasons for the station to take his name.

The main source is Leonardo Soto, a Congressman of Socialist Party.
